Official Weigh-in & Carissa "funny"

Well today it is official. Carissa had her 3 year check. And she broke the 23# mark. OK, they allowed her to wear her clothes, and yes I doubled up on anything that I could . Such as 3 shirts, (undershirt, long sleeve shirt with a short sleeve over it!) Then she wore her "heaviest" pair of jeans and to top it off, she was still wearing her sweater during the weigh-in! They only told me to take off her shoes, so I wasn't going to say anything. But the good news is, is that she has maintained her curve! Basically that just means she has remained at the less than 5%.

Carissa's "FUNNY" for the day! We went to lunch at Wendy's after the appointment, and some construction workers came in. There was one guy who was wearing a bandana on his head. Carissa must have noticed him, because she pointed right at him, and in her only volume (LOUD!) she said, "Hey, he's a PIRATE!" I looked over and noticed him, but apparently he didn't hear her, or I didn't respond fast enough (can't figure out which, probably the latter!) So she repeated it. This time they ALL heard it, and there was roughly 8 guys all laughing at her silliness!! I had to explain to her that he wasn't a "pirate", just was wearing a cover on his head to keep his head warm. Hopefully she won't go around accusing piracy anymore!!!

Well my last post I mentioned that I was having a "ME" day. Well I managed to get my hair cut. Then went to Steve & Barry's. And I had NO IDEA this place was SO huge. I also had NO IDEA that going there on a SATURDAY during a SALE was a terrible idea. The lines just to try on were about a 30 min wait. I did try some things on, but got the wrong sizes. So since I was by myself for my "ME" day, I didn't have anyone to get different sizes for me. Next time I go, I will definately either take someone with me, or grab every size I can find into the fitting room. So basically I spent 2 hours there and didn't buy anything. Then my "ME" day was cut short when Carissa took a one hour nap, she woke up screaming and I came home to cuddle her. Some times I glad that that's the one thing that she ALWAYS wants me for. Any other time, she only wants her dad! But it's these little moments that make me glad I'm the MOM!

Yesterday we had a huge snowstorm during the day. Andrew decided to come home early to try and avoid all the traffic. So at nap time I decided I could go to my scrap room and work on a project. This is an idea that I saw at a local store here and decided that I could do it too! (theirs had tons of buttons on it, and I like a few, but not covering the whole thing) So this is what mine looks like: I decided to paint the canvas, kept the same background paper and the Making Memories chipboard heart. The other stuff is just random stuff I had. I hand cut my letters (Man would I LOVE to have a Silhouette!) and then used some basic grey rub-ons on the letters. I really like how it turned out! Not bad for a couple of hours!

Here is picture of my kitten "Spooky". She LOVES to sleep on my bed, and she will at any chance she gets when I leave my door open! But she won't just sleep ON the bed, she must be UNDER the blanket on the microfleece blanket!

Yes that is her Yawning.....so content until I woke her up!

Class finished!

Well I finally got around to finishing the last 2 assignments for my Jessica Sprague Now we're rockin' digital scrappin' class! I never expected to get this far behind, but it's funny how life just comes at ya'!

Both Andrew and now Carissa have come down with a cold! Just when I finally called to schedule her 3 year well check. We'll have to see if her appetite stays, or if she stops eating. The track record is that she stops eating when she doesn't feel well and then loses weight. Well considering she only weighs 22 pounds right now, she can't afford to lose ANYTHING!

Well tomorrow is a "me" day. Getting my hair done and going to a friend's favorite "bargain" shop! (Thanks Jen!) Now let's just hope I don't get the cold!

Journaling reads: "Some boys NEVER OUTGROW" their love of BiG trucks! Trucks were the “obsession” when Donavan was the age Carissa is now. So watching the two of them exploring the construction site brought a smile to my face! And when he was standing inside the bucket, and was teaching Carissa about the big trucks, it hit me how “big” he is, and in 3 short years, he will be “official”! JULY 2007

Journaling on : "I'm late, I'm late: The West Jordan egg hunt was advertised 9:00-9:30am. We woke up a bit late and rushed out the door. When we got to the park, there was no place to park, so we quickly parked illegally and made our way to the field. We noticed that people were leaving, and one nice lady told us that it was all over. It was 9:04! FOUR minutes LATE and we missed the whole thing! One nice lady gave us some treats from her son’s bucket and Carissa was happy! She even got to wave at “The Bunny” and wasn’t even afraid of him at a distance! (there was no way she was going to wait in the long line without a fight!)

I survived......here's the Proof!

Well can I just say that having a birthday to plan right after christmas is REALLY tough! I know there are others that do it much closer to Christmas, but man, this is NOT easy! And it's only been the 3rd time! Boy am I in for it!!

Carissa decided on a Strawberry shortcake party. I had lots of fun making the invites! I stewed about it for days, and then once I decided on what I wanted, they came together pretty quick!

Another thing we did to "prep" for the party, was take Carissa to get her hair cut. It's only been 5 months since her first cut, and she still managed to get almost 3" cut off. And can I tell you the value of a stylist that can work QUICKLY! The first time we cut it, the gal was super fast and GOOD! This time I wasn't so lucky, and the last 7 minutes were spent screaming. Let's just say I have learned to schedule with a FAST stylist!

The party went well, and I even managed to get a cake right this time! I decided years ago that "doing cakes" was just not something that I would ever be good at.....but I attempted it again. And this time it turned out really cute and delicious! Double bonus! And I decided since I am so behind in my scrappin, that I should get her birthday documented as soon as possible. Plus I found the perfect template that worked for lots of pictures! So here is the birthday layout that I finished in one day! (thanks to my honey that cleaned up some space on my system!) Journaling reads:

You were Berry excited for your party this time! You invited Ryo Lyon, Halle & Brynn Morrow, Aly & Amy Bertoch, and cousins Camille, Hannah & Nathan. You all colored pictures of Strawberry Shortcake, then Daddy helped with games. The favorite was ring-around-the-rosey. You had lots of FUN opening presents. When it came time for the cake- you were doing fine until Daddy lit the candles and tried to get you to blow them out. Well you weren’t going anywhere near that idea! So I suggested we sing “Happy Birthday” (thinking that would calm you down!) & instead you completely LOST it! You perked up again after we finished the song and Daddy blew out the candles! Then you enjoyed your “berry-licious” cake and strawberry swirl ice cream! It’s so hard for me to believe you are a 3 years old already….but you are….and judging from your party, it’s going to be an unpredictable year!

But even with the amount of energy this little one creates, it makes it a happy place for everyone (well sometimes!) She is growing up everyday! I noticed last night as we were getting her to bed, that she wanted to climb the stairs "by myself" and she climbed them one at a time, instead of both feet on one step. I noticed her doing it a few times, but this time she went up every step this way! Such a sad day....to see proof that she is indeed a "big Girl"!!

Well I better get going on another layout while my mojo is still here!

First post

So I finally decided to sign up for a blog account. Really should have done it sooner....but this is at least a start.

Carissa is going through the phase of not wanting to go down for a nap. So today her song that she sings in her bed is "kiss the girl" from Little Mermaid. Some of her other favorite songs to keep her awake are: "Popular & Loathing" from the musical "Wicked", "the bear neccessities from Jungle book, and "Part of your world" from the little mermaid. Such a musical little girl!

So we are gearing up for the holidays here, and the big kids are constantly telling me things they want for christmas. I keep telling them to write it down somewhere, cause when the time comes to start shopping (which I should have already started too!) I won't have a clue what they told me while I was fixing dinner 3 weeks ago!
